Sustainability is central to the way Marks and Spencer do business.  The aim of the Plan A site is to provide an environment that nurtures and supports M&S’ ambition to become the world’s most sustainable retailer. We’ve been working with Plan A from the start, evolving the site and looking at new ways to engage customers with M&S initiatives.

One way we're doing this is by taking Plan A to the high street, working  with organisations like UNICEF and Oxfam on integrated campaigns such as   the One Day Wardrobe campaign. This campaign encouraged people to   recycle their old M&S clothes, shoes and bags in exchange for vouchers, raising funds for Oxfam.

Copenhagen Quilt

content

As the world came together for the COP15 conference on climate change, we saw an opportunity to raise awareness, encourage active involvement and show people how they can do their bit.  We created an online petition, in the style of a patchwork quilt, where people could share their personal commitments.  The aim was to take the petition to the government stating the British public’s personal commitments to tackling climate change.  We ended up creating a real-life version of the quilt, which was taken to Downing Street
